Real Cigarette Lighter; With 12 Hours of Voice Activated Recording
A miniatiure voice recorder built inside the enclosure of a real disposable Cigarette Lighter. Professionally hand-built to provide clear audio recording over a 12-hour period. By removing the Ligher head allows access to the ON / OFF recording switch and miniature connection port to recharge the Lighter's battery and offload audio recordings to a computer.
Place the Lighter in the area of concern ie; an office or room in your house, or for body-worn recordings of an important meeting. The highly sensitive microphone will monitor the environment and record when sound is detected. This disposable gas Lighter is incorporated with 8 GB of memory (that's enough storage to hold 96 hours of audio) and utilises a fail-safe wipe design. Audio is captured at 196 KBPS bit-rate for fantastically clear audio.
Note: Colour is red and the Lighter does not produce a flame for safety reasons.
REAL LIGHTER WITH TIME AND DATE RECORDING
Measuring just 85 x 25 x 11 mm, the Cigarette Lighter recorder use a simple slide switch recording mechanism. You may also enable recordings with a time and date stamp when matters of a sensitive nature must be captured as vital evidence. Please note the time / date function can only be set using a Windows computer.
VOICE ACTIVATED RECORDING
The Lighter is preset at an audio threshold of 30 db, which means sound detected above that threshold will trigger recording to start - and will continue to record until the audio threshold drops below 30 db. The Cigarette Lighter doies not produce many files, and instead compresses audio into one single convenient WAV file for playback on a Windows or Mac computer. No special software or technical skill are required.
FULLY RECHARGEABLE
Once the internal battery has been depleted, remove the Lighter head and connect the device to a computer using the supplied USB cable. We also (optionally) provide a genuine Apple USB plug should you wish to connect the Lighter to a mains power for recharging. Please select this option from the menu above.

IS THE GAS LIGHTER REAL?
Yes. The combination of using special milling equipment, a miniaturised audio recorder and years of technical engineering background has made this possible. The end result is a normal disposable gas lighter which can be visually examined and even handled without giving away what is actually is.

DOES IT PRODUCE A REAL FLAME?
Due to the internal recording mechanism the Lighter will only produce sparks associated when disposable lighters run out of gas.
HOW DO I SWITCH ON / OFF RECORDING?
Simply pop off the Lighter head to view the recording switch and the miniature connection port to connect the Lighter to a computer.
WHY WOULD I WANT TO USE A LIGHTER RECORDER?
There are lots of legimate reasons why individuals may need to use a voice recorder for example; you may need to capture verbal abuse in the home environment or in a care home. You may believe somebody is entering your room when you are absent and need evidence or perhalps provide concreate audio evidence of an ongoing work dispute to the relevant authorities.
WILL THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER RECORD ALL THE TIME, OR JUST WHEN VOICES ARE HEARD?
The Lighter uses voice-activated recording only. This means when the microphone inside the Lighter detects audio, the recorder will commence recording and will continue to record until audio is no longer deteced or the battery requires recharging (whichever comes first). All recorded audio is compressed and stored as one single playable file to the Lighters internal eight (8) GB of flash memory.
WHAT IS THE AUDIO FORMAT?
Audio files are created and stored in standard WAV format which is supported by many different media players.
DOES THE LIGHTER MAKE ANY BUZZING NOISES WHEN RECORDING?
No. The voice recorder is digital so there are no moving parts. There is an LED to indicate when the Lighter is being charged, and when it is powered ON to record. No LED is illuminated while recording.
ARE AUDIO FILES ACCOMPANIED WITH A TIME AND DATE?
Yes. The time and date function does not need to be enabled but if you do decide to enable it, then you must use a Windows computer to do this. Please remember, the time and date is stamped when the recording is triggered and does not have a timeline.
HOW CAN I PLAY BACK THE RECORDED AUDIO?
Simply connect the Cigarette Lighter to a Windows or Mac computer using the supplied USB cable. Once connected, the computer will recognise the connected device and the recording folder can be accessed. Audio files can be played through the computer's Media Player. At the same time, the Lighter will be recharging from the computer too.
