PRIVACY AT THE FOREFRONT
We've invested in ensuring the cameras used with the smartphone app are licensed and hosted in the UK. Unlike sellers who provide a camera with a smartphone app (no matter where they are hosted), our cameras put you in complete control. When you use the Socket Lead camera, the app is authenticated by an encrypted server hosted in the UK rather than routed to a server overseas to guarantee a much higher level of privacy.
INTERNAL MEMORY AND OPTIONAL CLOUD STORAGE
The Socket Lead has 32 GB of internal storage. Additionally, the app offers optional cloud storage for all your video files, accessible remotely when needed. This means that even if the camera is stolen or damaged, you can still access evidential stored videos anywhere and anytime.
Note: A third party provides cloud storage, which we do not manage.
WIFI DROP OUT? NO PROBLEM
If your WiFi network fails, you'll receive a 'camera offline' notification. The camera will continue monitoring as a DVR (digital video recorder), storing motion video files according to your settings. While live viewing is unavailable during WiFi disconnection, the camera will continue capturing footage. Once the WiFi connection is restored, these recorded files will appear in the app.
INVISIBLE CAMERA ID (SSID)
For added security, the camera's unique SSID remains hidden when connected to a WiFi network, ensuring it's undetectable to third parties searching for connected devices.
RECORDING WITHOUT WIFI
The Socket Lead can function as a standalone recording device without being connected to a WiFi network. This feature is perfect for locations without reliable internet access or when you prefer not to use WiFi. Check the 'More Information' tab for details.

DO ALL SOCKETS WORK PROPERLY?
Indeed. All sockets power various electrical devices. It's advisable to use them for smaller appliances, such as desk lamps, tablets, and the like, rather than larger items like washing machines, refrigerators, or televisions.
CAN ONE DETECT THE PRESENCE OF A SURVEILLANCE CAMERA?
The camera is expertly installed along the long edge and cleverly disguised. A casual observer would not notice the presence of a mini camera. The socket also features a high-quality Peizo-electric microphone integrated into the board, providing clear audio within its immediate surroundings.
HOW IS THE WIFI CAMERA POWERED?
The Socket Lead must be connected to a main supply to power the WiFi camera. Batteries or recharging are not needed.
HOW STRAIGHTFORWARD IS THE WIFI CAMERA SETUP?
You'll need a modern smartphone with internet access and compatibility with 4G | 5G. The setup process is uncomplicated, and we provide clear instructions to get you up and running in just a few minutes. Should you need it, our top-notch customer support is also available.
WHAT ADVANTAGES COME WITH CONNECTING THE CAMERA TO A WIFI NETWORK?
When the camera is linked to a WiFi network, your smartphone becomes the control centre for the camera. This includes LIVE viewing, manually capturing photos and recording videos, activating/deactivating motion detection recording, adjusting video resolution, and enabling/disabling push notifications for motion detection. You can also replay recorded video files, remove video files, and save recorded video files to your smartphone's camera roll.
You can share a QR code to grant other family members access to the camera and revoke this access at any time.
CAN I RECEIVE PUSH NOTIFICATIONS WHEN MOVEMENT IS DETECTED?
Yes. This feature is ready to be activated through the smartphone app. Once enabled, the camera will notify your smartphone whenever it detects movement.
HOW MANY RECORDING MODES ARE AVAILABLE?
There are two recording modes you can choose from:
- Manual - Tap the 'Record' or 'Screenshot' button while LIVE viewing the camera. Manual recordings can be instantly accessed and downloaded to your camera roll over 4G | 5G.
- Motion - Set the camera to record when movement is detected (recordings are stored on a non-removable SD card in 30-second durations)
Motion videos are labelled within the app's calendar for easy navigation. The calendar includes a precise timeline of each captured event.
Downloading recorded motion-activated video files requires your smartphone to be connected to the same WiFi network as the camera. If you wish to bypass this method and directly download videos from the SD card to your camera roll over 4G | 5G data, you can optionally subscribe to the app's cloud service.
The ability to download motion videos from the SD card to your smartphone's camera roll over 4G | 5G (via the cloud service) is beneficial for those who don't always have access to connect their smartphone to the same WiFi network as the camera, for example, when travelling or on holiday.
WHAT IF THERE'S NO WIFI AT THE PREMISES?
There are two options available.
1. The camera can connect to an external device like a MiFi Dongle. A MiFi dongle is a small device with an active 4G | 5G data SIM card (available for purchase from shops) to create an instant wireless WiFi connection.
2. Alternatively, the camera can function as a standalone, self-contained DVR (digital video recorder) without connecting to a WiFi network.
Here's how it works:
1. Plug the socket lead into a main power source.
2. The camera will broadcast its unique ID (known as an SSID), which will appear on your smartphone's WiFi list.
3. Tap the camera ID to connect your smartphone directly to the camera.
4. You can now access and navigate all the camera settings, and LIVE view the camera (to get the best viewing position).
5. Set the camera to motion recording.
6. Disconnect your smartphone from the camera and exit your premises.
7. The camera will now monitor the room and record when motion is detected. No WiFi connectivity is required.
8. When you need to access and review the recorded motion-activated footage, reconnect to the camera (from point 3 above), go to the folder containing the video files, and download the video file(s) remotely to your smartphone's camera roll.
IS THE SMARTPHONE APP SECURE?
Yes. Although we didn't develop the app ourselves, the engineers have a licence agreement to host a server in the UK, ensuring peace of mind that the camera doesn't route through unknown overseas servers.
CAN THE CAMERA VIEW THE ROOM WHEN IT'S DARK?
The camera performs well in low light but can't see in complete darkness. Therefore, the room needs artificial light, such as a bulb or invisible infrared light.
DOES THE CAMERA MAKE NOISES OR FLASH?
No. This product is designed for discreet security and surveillance of your property.
WHAT'S THE CAMERA'S RESOLUTION?
Both LIVE streaming and video file downloads are in HD 1080P resolution.
WILL THE CAMERA WORK IF THE SOCKET LEAD IS UNPLUGGED?
No. If the socket lead is disconnected from the mains, the socket and WiFi camera will lose power. The camera will automatically reconnect to the associated WiFi network when power is restored.
CAN I MOVE THE SOCKET LEAD AND CONNECT TO A DIFFERENT WIFI?
Yes. You'll need to remove the camera from the current WiFi network first, then set it up on the new one. We provide full instructions for this process.

I was a bit sceptical about the " phone only" access feature but it actually works very well, as does the remote viewing. The sound quality is also very good with none of the background noise you get with other some products or CCTV audio.

WANT AN EVEN FASTER DELIVERY? Expedited UK deliveries by 10:30 am and 12:00 noon are available for an additional fee, which is clearly shown during the checkout process. Orders must be received no later than 12 noon. If you place an order AFTER 12 noon, you will not qualify for expedited delivery.
SATURDAY DELIVERY Weekend deliveries between 07:00 - 18:00 are available for an additional fee, which is clearly shown during the checkout process. Orders must be received no later than 12 noon on a Friday. If you place an order AFTER 12 noon, you will not qualify for Saturday delivery.
For purchases to EU and other worldwide destinations, we use couriers by DPD, UPS, TNT and FedEx which are fully trackable.
A flat rate standard shipping fee of £40.00 applies for delivery between 6-7 business days depending on the destination, and £45.00 for expediated delivery between 4-5 business days depending on the destination.
Deliveries to EU and other worldwide destinations are not guaranteed by the timescales stated above, and will depend on factors that are outside our control.
