Voice Activated Double Wall Socket Recorder; with 75 Days Standby Time
This mains-powered Double Wall Socket is integrated with a voice-activated recording system while operating as a regular power supply. An integrated sensitive microphone will pick up audio approx 25 feet from where the Double Wall Socket is fitted, and stores each separately recorded sound file to its internal flash memory for later playback.
NO NEED TO REMOVE THE SOCKET
Once deployed, there is no further requirement to remove the Double Wall Socket. The charging port, microphone and ON | OFF mechanism can be accessed from the underside lip of the socket for convenience.
The recording mechanism can be enabled and disabled at any time. The microphone will actively monitor for sound above an average 50-60 dB threshold.
With a standby time of 75 days (standby time = the length of time the device can remain powered without recording) and a total recording time of 72 hours (whichever limit is reached first), the Double Wall Socket is ideal for short to medium term audio evidence gathering.
EASY AUDIO FILE ACCESS
Without removing the Double Wall Socket, the supplied magnetic USB cable easily connects to the bottom lip of the socket and then to a Windows or Mac computer or laptop where audio files can be accessed and played back and transferred for safekeeping. No special software is required to play audio files.
TIME AND DATE STAMP
Each recorded audio file can be stamped with a time and date, making it easier to identify specific activities. Please note the time and date can only be set using a Windows computer.
HOW VOICE ACTIVATION RECORDING WORKS
The internal recording chipset is designed to automatically start and stop recording when sounds or voices are detected above an average room threshold (50-60 dB). Audio recordings continue until a period of silence, and then that audio file is stored in its internal flash memory in chronological order.
Voice-activated recording reduces the need to trawl through hours and hours of audio while maintaining battery performance.
Note: Voice-activated recorders should ideally be used in quiet room environments to reduce the number of recorded files. For example, if deployed near a radio, television, air vent or other noisy environments, the Double Wall Socket will detect these sounds and start/stop recordings filling the memory much faster than deployed in a quiet room.

DO THE DOUBLE WALL SOCKETS OPERATE NORMALLY?
Yes. The recording mechanism is entirely separate from the standard functionality of the Double Wall Socket.
DO I NEED TO CHARGE THE RECORDER?
Yes. A small lithium powered battery maintains power to the recorder. The charging time is approximately 4 hours, and for convenience, the charging process is undertaken without removing the Double Wall Socket.
HOW LONG ARE THE STANDBY AND RECORDING TIMES?
The recorder has a standby time of up to 75 days actively monitoring for sound. The maximum voice-activated recording time is 72-hours over this period (whichever limit is reached first).
ARE THERE ANY VISIBLE LIGHTS OR OTHER INDICATORS WHILE RECORDING?
No. Although as stated, the only visible indicators are the charging port and ON |OFF mechanism found on the bottom lip by looking underneath the socket.
IS TIME AND DATE STAMPED RECORDINGS SUPPORTED?
Yes. By using the supplied software (Windows computers only), the time and date can be referenced on each separate recorded audio file.
HOW DO I ENABLE AND DISABLE THE RECORDING PROCESS?
Located on the bottom lip of the socket is a small hole that accepts the activation pin to enable and disable the recording mechanism. The voice-activated mechanism can be switched OFF at any point while maintaining the regular functional use of the socket.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE BATTERY DRAINS WHILE RECORDING?
The internal 8 GB of flash memory will store all audio recordings before the battery is depleted. No audio files will be lost.
HOW DO I ACCESS THE RECORDED FILES?
Audio files can be retrieved by connecting the supplied magnetic USB cable to the Double Wall Socket's magnetic connector and a computer (preferably a laptop for convenience).
ARE THE AUDIO FILES CLEAR WHEN PLAYING BACK?
Yes. Each recorded audio file is stored in MP3 format @ 64 KBPS which is very clear. Sound can be detected and recorded up to 25 feet from the Double Wall Socket's fitting.
