This handy Landline Call Recorder effortlessly captures incoming and outgoing calls, complete with time and date stamps.  It's perfect for documenting home and office chats, gathering proof of bothersome behaviour, or revisiting important conversations.  There's no need to fiddle with buttons; simply plug it into a spare phone socket, and you're set.

With a single charge, you'll get up to 75 days of standby time and roughly 60 hours of actual call recordings in WAV format.  The best part?  You can easily access and play these recordings on your computer without any special software.  And don't worry about privacy – a removable encryption key keeps your recorded calls safe from prying eyes.

Details

Automatic Landline Telephone Recorder; with Removable Encryption Key

The Landline Call Recorder is a clever gadget that automatically saves incoming and outgoing phone calls as digital WAV files.  It's perfect for general home and office use or for capturing unwanted or threatening calls.  You don't need technical know-how to use this device, which plugs into a spare phone wall socket.  When you pick up the handset, it starts recording, and when you put it down, the recording is saved in the Black Box's built-in memory.  We provide a cable to connect the device to a computer so you can access the saved files.  All recordings are shown in order with a time and date stamp.

DETACHABLE ENCRYPTION KEY

A removable encryption key safeguards your call recordings from unauthorised access.  When the key is taken out of the device, no one can get to the stored files.  You can only access the recorded content and recharge the device when the encryption key is plugged in.  Each encryption key is unique and uses a randomly created algorithm.  The unit has a built-in rechargeable battery that lasts 75 days on standby (when it's on but not recording) and can store about 60 hours of phone calls.

To recharge the phone recorder and listen to your saved audio files, unplug the device from the phone socket and connect it to a computer using the USB cable provided.  You'll need a Windows computer to set the time and date, but the device works with Mac computers, too.

ARE YOU GETTING NASTY CALLS?

Without recorded proof, you can't take action.  Verbal abuse and slander are becoming more common.  If someone's harassing you over the phone or you're getting annoying sales calls, you might want to consider using the Phone Recorder.

DID THEY SAY THAT?

How often have you heard something during a phone call or made an agreement with a friend that you can't prove later?  Isn't it frustrating when you can't remember what you arranged with the other caller?  You were sure you understood what was said.

Whatever your reasons, it's legal to record phone calls on your own property and on your own calls.  Call recording can provide crucial audio evidence to protect yourself.

Update: Phone lines are being replaced by fibre and VOIP (voice-over IP), so plugging the phone into the back of a router is now the preferred method.  The latest advice is not to use an older phone socket to connect the phone recorder device but to plug it directly into a spare port on your router.  If your router has only one connection port, you'll need to use a phone splitter - plug the phone into one of the splitter ports and the phone recorder device into the other.  You don't need an ADSL filter anymore, as technology is moving towards VOIP (voice-over IP).

Note: The first and last 5 seconds of a phone call won't be recorded because of the auto-start boot-up and save function when you pick up and put down the handset.  If you want to capture the very end of a call, wait 5 seconds after the call has finished before putting the handset down.

More Information

F.A.Q's

WHAT'S THE ENCRYPTION KEY?

This small piece of hardware can be removed from the phone recorder to encrypt access to the audio files stored in the unit.  Each encrypted key uses a series of algorithms to make accessing the files without the key impossible.

HOW IS THE PHONE RECORDER POWERED?

The phone recorder's built-in rechargeable battery powers it for up to 75 days of standby time per charge.  The unit can be easily recharged using the USB cable provided.

HOW MANY HOURS CAN THE PHONE BLACK BOX RECORD?

The unit can record and store 60 hours of incoming and outgoing phone calls, with a total storage capacity of 60 hours.

ARE BOTH SIDES OF THE PHONE CALL RECORDED CLEARLY AND WITHOUT BEEPS?

Yes.  Recorded calls are very clear when played back and don't have any beeps, sounds or noises that would tell the other caller that you're recording the call.

WILL THE PHONE RECORDER BE OBVIOUS WHEN CONNECTED TO A PHONE LINE?

This shouldn't be a worry for personal home and office use.  However, if you want to record calls privately for evidence, you can plug the device into a spare phone socket in a different room.  It doesn't need to be connected to the main phone socket, which might be in view.  For example, most homes and offices have the main phone socket and a spare one on the same line.

I DON'T HAVE A SPARE PHONE SOCKET, AND THE MAIN PHONE SOCKET HAS ONLY ONE CONNECTION.

In this scenario, you'll need to use a telephone splitter (not included) to create an extra phone socket. Simply unplug the existing cable from the main socket and connect it to the splitter, which will give you an additional socket.

Update: As phone lines are being phased out in favour of fibre and VOIP (voice-over IP), it's better to plug your phone into your router.  The latest advice is to avoid using older phone sockets to connect your telephone recorder.  Instead, plug it straight into a spare port on your router.

If your router has only one port, you'll need a telephone splitter.  Plug your phone into one port of the splitter and the telephone recorder into the other.  There's no need for an ADSL filter anymore, as we're moving towards VOIP technology.

I'M NOT VERY TECH-SAVVY.  HOW EASY IS THE TELEPHONE RECORDER TO USE?

Don't worry, you don't need any technical skills.  We provide everything you need to get started right away.

I FEEL UNEASY ABOUT PHONE CALLS, BUT I'M NOT SURE WHAT TO DO.

Recording phone calls can be incredibly helpful when dealing with bullying, threats, intimidation, or nuisance calls.  The audio evidence you gather can be a valuable tool to present to the Police, helping them take action.

DO THE RECORDINGS INCLUDE A TIME AND DATE?

Yes, they do. You can set the time and date by following the instructions in our User Guide.

Used to record annoying sales calls and potential ID theft calls. Also to log phone messages that are not passed on by elderly residents.
