The Ballpoint Pen combines next-generation remote WiFi live listening with voice-activated and continuous recording technology. Through the secure iOS and Android smartphone app, you can listen (in real-time) to the surrounding room environment with superb sound quality from another location. In addition, the microphone actively monitors the sound threshold levels to commence recording when noise is detected. You can also receive a push notification when a sound is triggered!
Recorded voice files are listed chronologically with a time and date. Files can be remotely accessed, played back through the app and/or downloaded to your smartphone for safekeeping or evidence. The Ballpoint Pen can be shown to write normally but is a surveillance gadget that combines voice-activated or continuous recording while remotely listening to the surrounding room environment from anywhere worldwide. The clever part is that the pen connects to a home, office, or other WiFi network to negate messy SIM card signal issues.
The ability to hear from afar and/or playback high-quality voice recordings makes this an extremely versatile product. Setup and deployment couldn’t be more straightforward, making obtaining vital audio evidence a breeze.

SMARTPHONE APP FOR IOS AND ANDROID
The smartphone app is available in the Apple and Google Play Store and is the control hub for the product. Through the app, you can listen (in real-time), playback audio recordings, download audio files, erase audio files, and adjust settings.
THE ADVANTAGE OF WIFI OVER GSM
Many similar products use mobile (cell) networks and require a SIM card to achieve remote listening/monitoring, which typically entails ongoing costs to ensure staying active and maintaining a reliable connection. The pen achieves the same thing without the costs associated with GSM. Of course, the pen needs to be located on premises with decent WiFi connectivity, for example, at your home studio or office - and, providing you are deploying for a lawful purpose, the opportunity to gather audio evidence can prove very valuable.
INTELLIGENT RECORDING MODES
This advanced audio recorder with live listening product can be set to record in response to sound (voice-activated) in 1 or 5-minute durations per activation or recorded constantly. This means recording will commence and continue to record for the pre-programmed duration when sound is detected above the preset audio threshold level.
A push notification can also be sent to your smartphone, allowing you to launch the app and listen to what is happening in real-time. Push notifications can be enabled or disabled in the app. You also have the option to download individual recorded audio files for safekeeping or as evidence.
WIRE-FREE BATTERY POWERED SECURITY
The built-in rechargeable battery can power the pen for approx. 9 days standby time. This is the maximum standby time based on the pen actively connected to a WiFi network but not recording or listening live. The standby time will be reduced based on factors such as how often the pen is triggered to record, how often you launch the app to listen, and how often you download audio files. Certainly, in a live environment, conservative use can achieve excellent usage for several days.
SD CARD AND OPTIONAL CLOUD STORAGE
The pen can accommodate up to 128 GB of SD card storage, which is enough to hold weeks of total audio recordings before you need to erase files remotely. In addition, you can activate cloud storage through the app (not maintained by us) to remotely access your private files anytime, anywhere.
FAST AND EASY SETUP
The pen is easy to set up and can be operational in 5 minutes. There are no messy wiring or IP configurations, and we provide full step-by-step instructions. Only a modern smartphone is required.

HIDDEN SSID
When the pen connects to a WiFi network, no SSID is transmitted, thus remaining from discovery by 3rd parties searching for internet-connected devices.
NO WIFI? NO PROBLEM!
If no WiFi network is available at the premises, consider purchasing a portable MiFi Dongle to provide a wireless 4G | 5G network to which the Pen can connect. Read the 'More Information' tab for further details.
OPTIONAL 10'000 mAh POWER BANK
Sometimes, there is no practical way to recharge devices between jobs, especially when travelling. The pocket-sized iSmart Power Bank can be carried with you or placed in your car glove box, and when needed, it connects externally to the pen (or any other electronic device, like a smartphone) to fully recharge it.

Note: A USB mains plug (not supplied) is needed to recharge the pen from mains power. Alternatively, you can purchase a genuine Apple USB mains plug from the menu above. A USB mains plug is not essential, as the pen can be charged through a computer, albeit at a slower rate.

DOES THE PEN HAVE A NORMAL APPEARANCE?
Ballpoint pens come in all shapes and sizes these days, and the pen will not attract attention visually due to its neutral black and silver colour appearance. You can write with the pen, too!
HOW DO I CONNECT THE PEN TO A WIFI NETWORK?
The setup is straightforward through the secure smartphone app. Connecting the pen to your authorised home or office WiFi network takes only 1-2 minutes. We provide easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions.
DO I NEED A COMPUTER?
No. A modern smartphone with a 4G | 5G data connection is required. The smartphone app is the control hub for the pen and can be downloaded from the Apple Store for iOS and the Google Play Store for Android.
HOW DO I LISTEN TO THE SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT AND RECORD AUDIO?
When the pen is connected to a WiFi network, you listen LIVE anytime through the secure smartphone app. You can also enable constant or voice-activated recording; files are automatically stored in the app under the SD Card icon for your review. All recordings show the time and date and are listed in chronological order. You can access audio files to playback anytime and download voice files stored in the app to your smartphone for safekeeping and evidence gathering.
IS THE AUDIO CLEAR?
Yes. Although the sound is streamed live over WiFi, the microphone produces very clear sound quality even at distances over 20-25 feet. Of course, the closer the pen is deployed to the audio you wish to capture, the higher the audio volume on playback.
CAN I GIVE THE PEN TO A PERSON?
You could potentially give the secret away as the pen would be physically examined. And if the person you handed the pen to walked out of the WiFi signal range, the connection to listen live would be lost. The pen is ideal for gathering audio evidence when placed in a room, on a desk, in the spine of a book, etc., and connected to the associated WiFi network.
HOW DO I ERASE AUDIO FILES THAT I NO LONGER NEED?
You can delete individual voice files or format the entire storage through the app - which conveniently erases all files.
HOW LONG CAN THE PEN RECORD FOR?
Due to being battery-powered, the pen has a maximum standby time of 9 days using Mode B. The pen has 3x working modes as follows:
- Continuous Record Mode (80 mA/h): When the pen is connected to a WiFi network, the user can check the live audio at any time, and the pen will record continuously (also with loop recording) in 5-minute durations for approximately 2.5 hours.
- Power Mode A (standby current 1.6 mA/h): When the pen is connected to a WiFi network, the user can check the live audio at any time. The pen can also send a push notification and record audio when sound is detected. This is the most popular mode and provides approximately five days of standby time.
- Power Mode B (standby current 1 mA/h): When the pen is connected to a WiFi network, the user can ONLY check the live audio through the app within one minute of each sound activation. The pen can send a push notification and record audio when sound is detected. This mode will provide approximately nine days of standby time.
Remember, the standby time will be reduced based on factors such as how often recording is triggered, how often the app is launched to listen live, and how often files are downloaded. In a live environment, conservative use can achieve excellent usage for several days.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WIFI CONNECTION DROPS OUT?
The pen will not be able to function if the WiFi network drops out. Ensure a stable WiFi network is available because poor WiFi will result in intermittent functionality and laggy audio.
WHY WOULD I WANT TO USE THE BALLPOINT PEN LIVE WIFI AUDIO AND RECORDER?
Versatility is the byword here; the pen combines automatic voice recording and live listening instead of having two products. Of course, the pen needs to be located in an environment with connectable WiFi, for example, at home or office, in a shop or small studio—and providing you are deploying it for a lawful purpose, the situations are limitless.
MY PREMISES DO NOT HAVE WIFI. WHAT CAN I DO?
The pen can connect to any WiFi network, such as a portable MiFi Dongle or a tethering hotspot. A MiFi dongle is a small device with an active pre-fitted data SIM card (available to buy from many shops) that creates a wireless WiFi connection around the premises. Likewise, a tethering hotspot provided by a smartphone or tablet with an active data SIM card will work, too.
