Voice Recorders Keep Tabs On England Team Preparations
The FA and the English football team are going through a period of some concern regarding their preparations for the World Cup. As if it was not enough that the team has been blighted by injuries and
tarnished by scandals amongst its senior players, those in charge are now having to cope with the fact that they may be under surveillance without their knowledge.
It has been brought to light that conversations between England players and members of coaching staff were listened in on by voice recorders that were planted in the team’s hotel in Hertfordshire before their last friendly game against Egypt. Whilst the details of the tape have been kept secret, the security breach is cause for concern.
The possibility that rivals get their hands on similar tapes is one that doesn’t bear thinking about for the FA as England prepare to mount a successful World Cup campaign. However, it is less a concern about leaked tactics as a concern about further scandal.
The last thing the English Football Association, or indeed anyone involved in English football, wants is for spy equipment to be used to drag up more information that could bring the game into disrepute. Taken out of context, voice recordings such as these could potentially harm the team’s preparation for the world’s biggest football tournament.
